"Mirror, mirror on the wall..."
Inspired by the Disney film: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, I decided to do a self- portrait based on the evil Queen's mirror. Because the mirror in the movie came out quite "ghostly", I used colors ranging between blue and grey. I left out my hair, neck, and shoulders, and only drew my face.
For this project, I needed a very chic frame, therefore I went searching on the antique markt in Plain Palais, Geneva, for an oval-shaped frame. Unfortunatley, all I could find were very small sized frames, with most of them not having a chic frame. Instead, I found a rectangular shaped mirror, still in good shape, and brought that home. Once home, I took out the mirror, and used the support (the wood behind mirrors to make sure they don't smash to pieces) to paint on, and I repainted the frame into a brighter golden color. Below, is how the final turned out.
The eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth are outlined to make the whole face look scarier.
